Service Design

David has worked across technology media innovations for over a decade with a focus in online collaborative media projects.

Bringing together innovation in storytelling, media licensing and use of the internet technologies, David devises services that bring the audience in as a participant to create shared experiences and media productions.

Projects have ranged from devising Playstation's first foray into network gaming through to brand-funded online collaborations that refines the processes between marketing, storytelling and product development.

Whilst at Channel 4 TV he led the development of largest archeological collaboration in the UK - mixing TV production and audience online collaboration. The service produced a week of live prime time entertainment for the Time Team TV show.

Further service design at Channel 4 included their first online video service, FourDocs. The service invited the audience to produce, share and collaborate on 4 minute long documentaries. It was also the first major use of the Creative Commons licensing scheme for a commercial broadcaster.

"Where are the Joneses?" was major iteration on the model of audience collaboration media, with Ford Motor Company as the sole sponsor - producing 9 hours of premium comedy using the UK production company BabyCow. It was the first project to use Creative Commons license commercially, by an international brand.

In 2008 David founded Ag8.com as a service design agency. Clients included RSA films, who commissioned a multi-branded media franchise inspired by Ridley Scott's Bladerunner. The service design incorporated 8 global advertising agencies in collaboration real-time online services from Google and Friendfeed (now acquired by Facebook). He sold the agency in late 2009.

David is now a partner in a startup organization titled "Philter Phactory" developing internet based products for social-intelligence services, bringing together entertainment, market research and gaming.
